I am DJ Hombre!
I have been heavily addicted to DJing and vinyl for near enough 20 years and although purchasing new records has reduced dramatically, I still can be found digging around charity shops and bargain bins for anything exciting in the way of vinyl. My first pair of turntables were a fairly unstable set of second hand SoundLab decks. These lasted for a number of years until I was press-ganged into selling them and a large chunk of my record collection - these were dark days indeed! Shortly afterwards I came to my senses and saved up to acquire shiny new Vestax turntables which I have used ever since. Due to other commitments of my time I no longer spend whole weekends playing records and I haven't jumped into the world of digital DJing with Serato or Traktor (I did experiment in the mid 00's with CDs but it didn't last long).
I started this blog to provide a method of posting reviews of DJ apps on the iPad, however I expect the blog will touch on aspects that the 21st Century Dj might be interested in!
Since late 2011 the blog has taken a backseat and I've been writing regular articles for the DigitalDJTips website, focusing on all things iOS and ultra-portable DJing. I'll continue to post links to the articles on this blog, but things will be a little quieter on here aside from that. Of course you can always find me on Twitter (themoderndj) for immediate updates.
