iPad 2 - any impact on DJ apps?

The iPad 2 specs can be found on the Apple site here.  Apart from the A5 chip which should mean faster processing, better battery life (?), I noticed that this was mentioned in the 'Audio Playback' section;

"Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound pass-through with Apple Digital AV Adapter (sold separately)"

Does this mean multi-channel audio coming out of the iPad2 in iOS4.3, albeit via the 'Apple Digital AV Adapter'?

Hmmm...so making a leap of faith here...does this mean we'll see DJ apps starting to offer both stereo master and headphone output via this method on the iPad2?  It may spell the end of the audio splitter already?  Admittedly, you'd need some type of converter to split the channels, but it sounds feasible - at least in theory.

That would require real-time encoding to AC-3, increasing the CPU usage pretty much. Plus some encoding latency.

There is no information how to do that Dolby pass-through in the SDK documentation, it seems like only the built-in movie player can do that.

So it's not that easy, we are already investigating this.
